December is a busy month for many people and... the holidays place extra demands on our feet. It’s a wonderful time of year to get together with family and friends you haven’t seen in awhile. Along with that... comes hectic shopping, holiday baking and cooking, long hours on your feet, and... more activity in general. With all this activity, our feet can take a beating. A quarter of all the bones in our body are found in the feet along with 33 joints, 107 ligaments, and many muscles and tendons. All this adds up to a lot of moving parts especially this time of year.

So, the question today is… How will your feet survive this Holiday Season? Bunion pain, toe pain, heel pain, or any type of foot pain can often take the joy out of holiday activities. According to a study 83% of consumers said they experience foot pain during the holiday season. So… proper footwear is important but not the only thing to consider. What’s INSIDE your shoe is just as important if not MORE important than the shoe itself.

Dr. Reminga talks about the most common foot problems he treats in his office at Northern Foot Care Center during this time of year. These foot problems include: heel pain, plantar fasciitis, neuromas, shin splints and Achilles tendonitis. All of these foot problems are due to OVERUSE, and… cause pain in the arches, heels, and along the front of the leg. Dr. Reminga continues by providing some helpful information and tips to help manage foot pain during this busy Holiday Season.

Dr. Daniel Reminga's Weekly Radio Show "Your Feet Your Health" airs every Wednesday at 10 am & 5 pm on WKMJ 93.5FM, WMPL 920AM, WUPY 101.1FM radio. Listen to past recordings here.
