In today’s program Dr. Reminga, from Northern Foot Care Center, talks about home remedies for foot pain and the things you can do to help soothe feet and relieve discomfort. There are at-home treatments that can be effective when foot pain strikes. Not every type of foot pain has a home remedy however today Dr. Reminga is going to share some tips that could be helpful in reducing discomfort from sore, aching feet.

Dr. Reminga starts by saying, “Whether it’s in my office or at home, I want people to get help and information when it comes to their feet. Too often, I hear from patients that they didn’t think there was anything that could be done to help their foot problem and thinking they would have to just live with it. If anyone has ever told you this… they are just plain wrong. There is help and answers for anyone suffering with foot or ankle pain.” So, aside from treatments that need to be done at Dr. Reminga’s office, what are some in-home foot remedies? The good news is that there are many ways to soothe sore, tired feet at home.

When it comes to home remedies, a combination of efforts can really help to rejuvenate your feet. So, the first thing you can do at home is.. USE MOIST HEAT. Oftentimes, aching feet are simply the result of over-stressed, over-used, muscles and connective tissue due to excessive activity or from weight-bearing. One of the best at-home remedies for relaxing these muscles and tissues is a foot bath. Another at-home remedy is… ICING. Ice therapy is one of the most useful home remedies for foot pain. When used properly, icing can reduce soreness, swelling, and promote muscle health. A third in-home remedy is… STRETCHING. There’s a saying that goes… When in doubt, stretch it out. Stretching is the easiest way to relieve tension and pain in the feet. After a long day, a good stretch can do wonders. Keeping your feet flexible and strong are keys to avoiding foot pain. Walking regularly for exercise is one of the best ways to keep your feet limber and healthy.
