In this week’s program, Dr. Remiga talks about Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome and how this condition affects the feet. You have most likely heard of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, which affects the hands and wrists. Carpal tunnel syndrome, is associated with tingling numbness and weakness causing discomfort to the wrist and palm of the hand. By definition, carpal tunnel refers to the tunnel-like passage that carries nerves through the wrist. Interestingly, many people who suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome may also have tarsal tunnel syndrome as well. This condition is a common cause of tingling, numbness, and pain in the sole of the foot which can be debilitating to the feet. Tarsal tunnel refers to a canal-like passage, or tunnel, forming between the ankle bone on the inside of the ankle, and a band of ligaments that stretches across the foot that carries sensitive nerves.

Dr. Reminga answers many questions about Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome such as… What does it feel like? What causes tarsal tunnel syndrome? What are the treatment options for this condition? What other foot conditions are confused with Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome? These are just a few of the questions that Dr. Reminga answers in today’s program.
