In today’s program Dr. Reminga discusses children and how the active summer season affects their feet. With Summer officially here… the level of outdoor activity increases for children. Along with that comes the risk of injury to the feet and ankles. It turns out that foot and ankle injuries are quite common in children and adolescents… even more-so in kids who are very active and participate in organized sports. Summer is a great time for kids! They can enjoy summer sports, playing outside, and camping. The longer days and warmer temperatures are perfect for an increased activity level. With all the activities outdoors… it’s important for parents to keep their children’s feet protected.

Dr. Reminga talks about the risk of injury, cuts and abrasions, infections, and a condition called… overuse syndrome. How does overuse syndrome occur in children? Participating in sports helps to promote physical and emotional well-being in children. Too much activity however, can lead to overuse injuries involving the feet and ankles. Dr. Reminga goes into detail about overuse syndrome as well as other injuries that can occur in active children. He also discusses foot and ankle sprains and strains that result from summer activities. Parents will find today’s program interesting and informative. Listening to Dr. Reminga may help prevent foot and ankle injuries in your children this summer season.
