In today's program Dr. Reminga talks about the Pokemon Go craze and what it mean to your feet. Do you play Pokemon Go? It may or may not be your cup of tea but it's a craze that's caught on with a lot of people. Enthusiasm for this game has spread around the country and world for that matter. People are running around with their cell phones out chasing after Pokemon monsters. The game is app-based for smart phones... prompting players to move around looking for Pokemon in their neighborhoods and towns. You may wonder why this is the subject of today's program and how it relates to my usual topic about the feet and ankles.

Well, statistics are rising when it comes to the relationship between foot and ankle injuries and those that play Pokemon Go. This topic is of particular interest because a large number of young people are playing the game and... proportionately seeking care for their foot and ankle injuries. Playing this game can be a setup for foot and ankle injuries because... people are distracted and not paying attention to the environment around them while their heads are down looking at their cell phones.

Anytime someone is distracted or unaware of what's underfoot while walking or running, injuries can result. Ankle sprains are a common injury about 25,000 people sprain their ankle each day. Aside from Pokemon Go players, a sprained ankle can happen to athletes, and non-athletes, children and adults. It can happen while playing sports or while engaging in physical activity. Dr. Reminga talks about injuries to the ankles such as ankle sprains. He discusses how these ankle injuries occur, what to look for, and what to do if you suspect an ankle injury. Listen to today's program to find out about the Perils of Pokemon Go and Your Feet.
