You wake up in the morning or.... in the middle of the night and step out of bed... you take those first few steps and.... instantly you experience severe, stabbing pain in the heel of your foot. If this sounds familiar, you may have one of the most common causes of heel pain... plantar fasciitis. This injury affects the sole of the foot. A diagnosis of plantar fasciitis means that you've irritated the tough, fibrous band of tissue, which is called the fascia, connecting your heel bone to the base of your toes.

For as common as plantar fasciitis is, little is understood in the medical field about the causes of it and it often goes misdiagnosed. Basically, plantar fasciitis is an irritation in the plantar fascia accompanied by tiny tears in the fascia or fibrous band of tissue itself. Is this condition painful? Just ask anyone who has ever experienced plantar fasciitis.

In today's program Dr. Reminga explains what plantar fasciitis is, what causes this painful condition, who gets it, and... what can be done about it. Dr. Reminga cautions, "If you don't receive the proper treatment for plantar fasciitis, it may become a chronic condition." Plantar Fasciitis is a painful and debilitating condition. Listening to today's program, may help answer some of your questions about plantar fasciitis.
