When you're on your feet, your arches arches are the primary body structures that absorb and return force. When these supportive structures are altered... pain and injury can result. In today's program, Dr. Reminga answers questions you may have about arch pain, such as... What are the causes of pain in the arch? In his radio classroom, Dr. Reminga gives a brief anatomy lesson describing the arch area. Do you know what "tarsal" and "metatarsal" bones are? How do these bones relate to the arch of the foot? The foot is a complex structure and the arch is part of this "masterpiece of engineering" as Leonardo Da Vinci describes.

Dr. Reminga talks about the role the arch plays with athletes. Plantar Fasciitis is a common injury that athletes and non-athletes alike experience. Listen and learn more about this common and painful condition. If you have foot pain, on the bottom of your foot in the arch area, when getting out of bed in the morning... you most likely have Plantar Fasciitis. Dr. Reminga also describes other causes of arch pain including bruises, trauma, stress fractures, sprains and strains, as well as arthritis. In addition, Dr. Reminga describes a genetic component to arch pain that is often overlooked.

As mentioned earlier, Dr. Reminga's radio program is a type of classroom. At the end of the program Dr. Reminga has a unique test for listeners. The test may reveal something very interesting about the arches in your feet. Listen and learn about your arches in this week's program.
